table setting saturday #2

When we think about the lavender in terms of a wedding, things like linen (sachets), burlap (table decor) and wood (boxes) come to mind. Boring.. but it's hard to think of anything else. It is true that the lavender doesn't play well with others. It simply gets lost.
In this table setting we tried to break the rules by bringing the lavender to a festive, slightly formal level. It was mixed with some white flowers (formal roses and hydrangeas), the gold accents and colorful linens with a vintage print.

To arrange the fresh flowers in a wooden box: Line a box with a vinyl film, set the wet floral foam inside, arrange your flowers and tuck in or cut off the extra film.

The tartlet tin candles tutorial is here. A word of caution: do not place candles near the dry flowers. Our lavender bunch got caught on fire while I was trying to focus my camera!

For our napkins we used the vintage print cotton (7.99 per yard) in a lavender hue from JoAnn Fabric and Crafts [store]

Featured favors: Lavender cookies shaped like doughnuts in a gold candy wrapper- lined box. Individual jars of a good quality honey or home-made jam.
